Hastelloy Plates

The corrosion-resistant hastelloy plates are widely used by the chemical processing industries. The need for reliable performance leads to their acceptance and growth in the areas of energy, health and environmental, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and flue gas desulfurization industries.

The most versatile of the hastelloy are the "c-type" alloys.

Hastelloy c-276 a versatile, corrosion resistant alloy. Very good resistance to reducing, and mildly oxidizing corrosives. Excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance with very good resistance to localized attack.

Hastelloy c-2000 combines outstanding resistance to oxidizing media with superior resistance to non-oxidizing environments and represents a true performance breakthrough for chemical process equipment applications.

Hastelloy c-22 is particularly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion; it has been used extensively to protect against the most corrosive fgd systems and the most sophisticated pharmaceutical reaction vessels.

Nickel Plates

Nickel 200 are solid solution strengthened, commercially pure wrought materials with good mechanical properties over a wide range of temperatures and excellent resistance to many corrosives, in particular hydroxides.  

Nickel 201 was a modification of 200 to control carbon (. 02 max) which keeps it from being embrittled by intergranular precipitates at temperatures of 600° f to 1400° f in many processes. Typically, the elemental restrictions of both, nickel 200 and nickel 201, are combined into one, dual-certified chemistry resulting in a single alloy with the desired characteristics of both alloys, nickel 201.

Corten Steel Plates

Corten steel is also referred to as atmospheric corrosion resistant steel, weathering means that due to their chemical compositions cor-ten a and cor-ten b steels, when utilised unprotected, exhibits increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion compared to unalloyed steels. This is because it forms a protective layer on its surface under the influence of the weather.

The corrosion retarding effect of the protective layer is produced by the nature of its structure components and the particular distribution and concentration of alloying elements in it. The layer protecting the surface develops and regenerates continuously when subjected to the influence of the weather.

Formation, duration of development and protective effect of the covering layer on weathering steels depend largely upon the corrosive character of the atmosphere. Its influence varies and depends mainly upon general weather condition (e. G. Continental) macroclimate (e. G. Industrial, urban, maritime or countryside climate) and the orientation of the structure components (e. G. Exposed to or shaded from the weather, vertical or horizontal position). The amount of aggressive agents in the air has to be taken into account. In general the covering layer offers protection against atmospheric corrosion in industrial, urban and countryside climate.

When utilising this steel in unprotected condition it is up to the designer to take into account the expected loss of thickness due to corrosion and as far as necessary, compensate for it by increasing the thickness of the material.

In cases of particular air pollution by aggressive agents conventional surface protection is recommended. Coating is absolutely necessary in cases of contact with water for long periods, when permanently exposed to moisture, or if it is to be used in the vicinity of the sea. The susceptibility of paint coats to undercreepage by rust is less in the case of weathering steel than in the case of comparable non-weathering steel.

Alloy 20 (uns n08020) is an austenitic, nickel-iron-chromium based super alloy with additions of copper and molybdenum which provide resistance to hostile environments, pitting, and crevice corrosion. It is also stabilized with columbium to minimize carbide precipitation during welding. Alloy 20 appears to fall between both the stainless and nickel categories as it contains characteristics of both. It was designed for maximum resistance to acid attack and demonstrates superior resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in boiling 20% to 40% sulfuric acid, and also has excellent general corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid and to chloride stress corrosion cracking.
